It has been a wacky week to be a MARC train commuter (PENN line especially!)

Tuesday....My usual MARC train pulled into New Carrollton during the AM commute, and the regulars that depart the train there and hop on the Orange line did just that. But as we sat on Metro train on the platform waiting to depart, we noticed the MARC train had not departed, and in fact people started pouring out of it! Uh-oh... packed orange train! Shortly there after I got an email alert from MTA stating that trains were terminating @ New Carrollton due to Amtrak/Police Activity between NC and Union Station. WMATA would have called it "Track Maintenance". (supposedly human remains were found near the tracks... but never really heard anything else except a nice email alert maybe an hour later that trains were now running to Union Station).

Wednesday.... Usual MARC morning train was running late... maybe 10 minutes. After we were picked up in Odenton I got an email alert that stated due to water main break near tracks Southbound trains would be delayed 10-15 minutes. Email alerts continued throughout the day (Situation deteriorated rapidly... shortly after my train left Odenton MARC rail traffic was suspended between West Baltimore and Odenton. But an email came out and relayed all of this info, and more indcating that shuttle busses were running, METRO (wmata) was accepting MARC tickets, and that the Camden lines were running.) Emails continued throughout the day, and started referring to which afternoon trains would be running and making all stops. (The afternoon train I caught was packed to the gills, 7 minutes prior to it leaving Uniod Station they announced it was packed and were not taking anymore passengers. Those of us that caught it at New Carrollton somehow managed to squish ourselves onboard.) MOre emails continued throughout the night... even ones that said normal service would continue tomorrow ( aka today) with some minor delays.

I guess MARC wants to give me lots of trouble before I depart for good :D

Commuter Alert: Amtrak, MARC Train Penn Line Service Suspended
Amtrak service has been suspended between D.C. and Baltimore because of a water main break, WTOP is reporting. Service has also been suspended on the MARC Train Penn Line between Baltimore and BWI. Bus service has been set up between Baltimore and the Odenton stations to route MARC riders around the problem. MARC suggests riders use the Camden line or drive to their destination. Metro will honor Penn line commuter tickets.

master bedroom

The status on my condo has officially been flipped to Under Contract. YAY!

Packing resumes!!!

Poor Madison :( (I haven't turned on the AC).

dining room

(Curious about the 19? the time that my condo was under contract does not count towards Days on Market....YAY)

Thursday I came home from work and was a decluttering/cleaning machine. The house was not in horrible shape, but since I am a pile person I had some piles (of mail, laundry, and randomness) to put away. The other big thing I had to deal with was all the boxes I had been bringing home and starting to pack. Basically I just stacked them all up in the 2nd bedroom. I figured better to have the Living Room/Sunroom/Dining Room clutter free so as to make a good first impression.

Friday...1 showing was scheduled during the day, while I was at work. As I was riding the train home I checked my phone, and there was a message from my realtor. She thought we had an offer coming! The potential buyer had two questions...

Saturday morning... TXT message from realtor... "What's your schedule like for Saturday? We have an offer to review!" w00t!!!!

So I met with realtor.... Offer was ... not that great.... Low ball on price and wanted 10K closing help. So I countered back at full price and with the closing help.

I go about my Saturday..... That evening I get a message from realtor.... Potential Buyer, feels that he is pushing his payment comfort level @ 5K below my asking price...I responded that perhaps he shouldn't be looking at houses out of his price range ;)

Sunday morning...realtor and I discuss this buyer walking because he wants a lower price and mucho closing help. I state I am fine with it because it sounds like this buyer can't afford my condo and wants me to give it to him (which is not happening!!).

Around 11am... I start getting calls from the showing service! 3 showing set up! (I go out to run errands). Feedback from the first showing rolls in .... they are interested in the property!

My realtor has told potential buyer's agent that we have showings scheduled throughout the day... apparently buyer's agent goes off to talk to the buyer.

My realtor says I basically have 2 options... 1) tell potential buyer from Friday that my counter of full price + closing is still on the table until Monday OR 2) Say its off the table and see what else rolls in.

Proving that I am not a horrible person (no mater what Potluck Bitch thinks :P) I say that the counter offer is on the table until Monday.

Buyer's Agent comes back and says he talked buyer into the full price! So Basically I am back under contract again! (Just waiting for some signed paperwork I think....)

Woohoo! Home Inspections later this week :D

Total showings - 10
Total movies seen - 1
Total meals eaten out - 2
Total shopping trips - 3
Total offers - 2

Guest Bath

I can't believe its been almost a month since my last post....

Needless, to say the 2nd bank coming out of the woodwork threw a major wrench into the process. They seemed very against the offer .... at one point 2nd bank declared they had an appraisal that was $140K over my offer so they were very against it (they wanted me to up my offer by 15K).... luckily my lender had already ordered an appraisal... which came in close to my offer, so after that 2nd couldn't sign the approval fast enough.

Then the 2nd banks approval went back to the 1st bank to approve. That seemed to drag on forever, Then the PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) team got involved and had to review the whole deal....

Needless to say, my buyer walked yesterday! So my condo is back on the market and open to showing as of Friday. Yay! I get to declutter again!!

And as I expected, I finally got signed off approval on my offer for the house I want to buy, from both banks this morning.

Seriously... just let GM go bankrupt!!!

Or make me a Sr VP at the company. This is ridiculous.....

Last Thursday Potluck Bitch and I had a "meeting" to discuss our issues. Our Manager was also in the meeting. He facilitated. Potluck's position was basically she is a talker. She wants to talk. Apparently in her 30+ year career she has never met someone that was a private person.
My position is I am not a talker. I do not want to talk, I want to work. I am here to do a job, not to make friends.

The real test of if the meeting was a success will be if Potluck Bitch can stop running to a 3rd party (not our manager) to discuss me and my "not talking".

I don't think she will be able to stop herself in the long run..... so stay tuned!!

Title: Virgo Horoscope for April 21, 2009

You have an easy attitude about life today, and you'll have a good time just shooting the breeze with your friends -- so try not to have a very elaborate or ambitious schedule. It will feel liberating to slow down your pace. You are getting along really well with other people, so surround yourself with as many friends as you can all day long. It's a great time to have a big potluck dinner, get everyone together for a game of kickball, or volunteer to host a backyard barbecue.

In Bloom!

My Double Late Tulips have started to Bloom... YAY!

April 14, 2009

I am at least 2 episodes behind, but Tori Spelling is back on tonight's 90210!! YAY!

The updated 90210 kinda isn't that good ... especially after they got rid of my favorite guy, but it is fun to see the original cast pop up! Maybe Luke Perry will rethink his stance and pop up for May sweeps ??

If the weather was better I would seriously consider bailing on my home inspection to go to the game!

April 9, 2009

I was going to post about this last week, but got too busy....then it happened again today.

I work in an office building. We have 8 floors and 4 elevators. Not everyone in the building works for the same agency. One agency may have multiple floors. So last week I got on the elevator to go to lunch. I was the only one on the elevator, and it went down about 2 floors and opened. A man got on.. and was talking to someone that remained in the hallway. The doors started 2 close, and he stuck up his arm to keep the doors open because he wasn't done talking. Then he did it twice more when the doors were closing. WTH!!!!! So when the doors were closing the last time and he put up his arm, I started punching the door close button. Then he looked at me like he just realized I was there and told his talking buddy he had to go :P

Happened again today except the guy got on and just kept his arm in front of the doors so they wouldn't close. So I gave him the evil eye!

I know I have little patience, especially for that type of rude behavior. But seriously if there is someone on the elevator isn't it common knowledge that you should not hold that person up?? Just wait for the next elevator. It shouldn't be that hard!!!
