So if you know me, you know I am an ebay selling junkie. My awesomest sale - a Pearl Jam concert poster that I bought for $20 and sold for over $400 :)
Last week I listed a coat that I originally got from The Gap for probably $60. When I first got the coat I noticed it on a character when I was watching an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer! So when I went to list the coat I found screen captures from the episode...and included them. I listed the coat at $15 and a bidding war broke out and drove it up to $41 ..... w00t!!!!!

I sold my old printer! Woot! I usually sell stuff I don't need anymore on eBay, but I knew for the printer I didn't want to deal with the hassle of estimating the shipping costs (and they would probably be crazy high!) ( For comparison purposes I checked eBay, and the last printer like mine that sold had a shipping cost of $25!).
So I was considering CraigsList, but first decided to list it on my community Yahoo! group...which I did yesterday morning... and It was just picked up!
Yay!
... now I just need to setup my new printer :)

Tonight I hit the ultimate phase in my de-clutter/organization phase! Background - for the past year and a half I have been cleaning out my clutter (selling massive amounts of stuff on ebay and half, donating clothes and shoes, and throwing out stuff that I haven't used in years (aka NKOTB fan merchandise ) ). This evening I threw out a can of artichoke hearts and a can of clams... that were at least 5 years old
and the world didn't end!
YAY!
and the final chapter to my ebay/paypal/buffy experience --
Paypal has given me a 100% refund
Amazon had the BTVS Collector's Set on sale today -- I saved 56% and FREE Shipping!
YAY!
Happy Cyber Monday!
I actually did a bunch of on-line shopping over the long weekend.
And....got embroiled in my first ebay/paypal scam!
I've been flip-flopping on wanting to get the complete Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv series on DVD, so I've been watching prices online (ie amazon, ebay, and whatever cheap places google returns). So I finally decided I found THE rock-bottom price online and thought I would try to beat it on ebay. I found a few actions to watch and zeroed in on my target.... I had the winning bid, and beat the other online price by about $30.
The next morning I went to pay via paypal, and when I got the receipt, it said payment went to an address like XXXXX@googlemail.com.... so that was red flag 1. red flag 2 was the name of the person did not match the name in the winning bid email, red flag 3 was that the address was a Non-US Verified address, but the auction stated the location was in the US (Florida) -- as a general rule I will not buy anything outside of the US.
Then I contacted the seller via email, and never got an answer. Then I posted on an ebay messageboard and opened a paypal claim to get my money back. The sellers other auctions were shutdown and his account has been suspended, so now he has emailed me asking me to pay again! LOL!
Now in addition to not buying an item in a location outside the use, I have learned don't buy a high-ticket item from someone with feedback for all Private auctions.
